    Most of the RGB LEDs I've played with have driver hardware that's pretty dumb - way lower level than i2c or spi or anything that could have a hardware ID you could read.
    Yes, I'm thinking of devicetrees, that could be used to report RGB leds, especially on embedded systems like smartphones. Otherwise, I'm quite sure (although not in the know) that UEFI could also provide some information regarding this (maybe with a dtb as well, actually).
