    I use arandr too for once-off positioning of monitors (ie, a laptop that switches between desks). For anything permanent such as my desktop, I use the xrandr commands directly in a launch script.

    Even when I use arandr, I still need to drop to xrandr afterwards since arandr won't let me switch from 60Hz to 144Hz.
