While the plan was to release PTS Desktop Live 2009.4, the quarterly update to our Linux-based benchmarking operating system from a Live DVD/USB environment, shortly after the release of Phoronix Test Suite 2.2, this has not happened and it is not going to happen. I have decided not to make the release public of PTS Desktop Live 2009.4 (formerly codenamed "Loderhof"). I am just too bottlenecked at the moment and therefore cannot be certain that this OS update will far exceed my own personal goals and expectations for this release. Instead, these efforts will be diverted to ensuring a rock-solid release of PTS Desktop Live 2010.1, which is codenamed Anzhofen.

The great focus that is being put into Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 "Lenvik" with its many compelling features plus the roll-out this month of the Phoronix Kernel Test Farm, the subsequent (early) launch of Phoromatic Tracker, Phoromatic enhancements, and other improvements to this testing / benchmarking platform (along with all of my other work doing Phoronix review writing, managing other Phoronix Media properties, and my other software company) have flushed away hopes of getting out an exciting, full-featured release of PTS Desktop Live 2009.4 to the general public before the end of this calendar year -- even when working most of the holidays.

Granted, PTS Desktop Live 2009.3 isn't even six months old yet and is still available at PTS-Desktop-Live.com, but it can be expected that PTS Desktop Live 2010.1 will be much more exciting. The "Anzhofen" release will be powered by Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 and will ship shortly after its official release, which means PTS Desktop Live 2010.1 should have a release date of February or early March.

Among the key changes in Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 include image quality comparison support, initial Windows support, mobile phone / embedded device support, new test profiles, and many other improvements. There are also a lot more Phoronix Test Suite related announcements coming down the pipe over the next few weeks and months.
