ARM's Cortex-A17 Now Supported By LLVM & Clang
The LLVM compiler infrastructure and Clang C/C++ language front-end now have support for the ARM Cortex-A17.
The Cortex-A17 is an evolutionary step over the Cortex-A12 that's aiming for mid-range devices in 2015. The Cortex-A17 is supposed to offer around 60% better performance over the Cortex-A9 while boasting greater energy efficiency, support big.LITTLE designs in conjunction with the Cortex-A7, etc.
The A17 support was added to LLVM's ARM back-end and followed through with the Clang support. This product enablement will be found in LLVM 3.6.
