Given the recent X.Org Server security vulnerabilities that were aplenty and many dated back 10 to 20 years or more, Jeremy Sharp is trying to get developers into finally materializing server-side XCB.

Jeremy sent out a "request for comments" about coming up with a server-side version of XCB (X Client Bindings). The X.Org Server equivalent of XCB would be auto-generating protocol serialization/deserialization of code from the XCB descriptions for the X11 protocol and extensions. Jeremy's reigniting the server-side XCB discussion over the latest batch of security vulnerabilities that came due to a lack of bounds checking, etc.

Sharp's initial message can be found on xorg-devel. Some of this work is already being done as explained by Christian Linhart, in fact through the X.Org Women Outreach Program. The discussions so far have already led into some tech proposals so hopefully in 2015 we'll finally see server-side XCB materialize.
