Elasticsearch & wxPython 3 Proposed For Fedora 22
Last week I wrote about new features being proposed for Fedora 22 and today there's two more system wide changes to talk about.
Jiri Vanek of Red Hat is pushing for Elasticsearch to be added to the main Fedora repository. Elasticsearch is a self-standing, open-source indexing server. The Elasticsearch details for the Fedora 22 proposal can be found via this Fedora Project Wiki page. Those wishing to learn about Elasticsearch can visit its upstream web-site.
The other change to talk about today is getting wxPython 3 into Fedora 22. Fedora is still running with the Python 2.x version of the Python bindings to the wxWidgets GUI library. For Fedora 22, wxPython 3 might finally come while still maintaining co-installable support with wxPython 2.8. Details on the wxPython 3 plans for Fedora 22 can be found via this Wiki page.
These features still have to be approved by the Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee. Fedora 22 is still in its early stages of development and will not be released before mid-May.
