Nautilus Ported To New GTK Widgets For GNOME 3.16

GNOME's file manager, Nautilus, is seeing some much needed love for the GNOME 3.15 development cycle ahead of GNOME 3.16 next March.

The latest major work to the Nautilus file manager is that it's been ported to make use of GTK's GAction, GMenus, and Popovers widgets to improve the UI and workflow.

Besides improving the UI, switching over to these new widgets and code drops out six thousand lines from Nautilus while adds in just under three thousand lines of code. "Nautilus was using lot of legacy code, codified in an intricate way. Cleaning up those lines makes the maintenance of the application a lot more pleasure, and a little more smarter."

The new Nautilus code isn't yet merged but it's expected to go under review in patch form next week. More details via Carlos Soriano's blog who has been focusing on these Nautilus improvements.
