Qualcomm Looks To Get Into The ARM Server Business
While Qualcomm is still dominating in the mobile phone chip world as the largest supplier of SoCs for smartphones, the company has ambitions of getting into the server market.
According to reports out this week that quote Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf, the company is looking at getting into the ARM server market to take on the likes of Intel and AMD.
Aside from the AMD Opteron ARM prospects, there isn't too much yet of an ARM server chip leader since the falling of Calxeda. Qualcomm is reportedly engaging with potential customers but there's not yet any public product plans or roadmap for Qualcomm actually shipping their own server chips.
