JabirOS Is Now An "Independent" FreeBSD Fork
JabirOS is the rather peculiar operating system that started out as an Ubuntu-based distribution and turned to base itself on FreeBSD. After basing itself on FreeBSD, the latest hop for this seldom heard of distribution is to claim it "isn’t a FreeBSD distribution anymore" but an independent fork.
With today's JabirOS 2.0 release, it claims to be a "complete and independent fork from FreeBSD 10-RELEASE." The entire FreeBSD 10 code-base was forked, compiled, and tested to run all FreeBSD packages for a minimalist and normal desktop setup.
Overall, JabirOS appears to be a distribution with no clear goal and of limited to minimal manpower. It claims it's "forked" from FreeBSD 10 but given the situation will likely either hop to another distribution or just rebase its fork against FreeBSD for future versions (if any) of the operating system given that they already jumped from Ubuntu to FreeBSD. JabirOS is also just tested as a base operating system without X11 and that it's just been tested against the basic Xfce applications, LibreOffice, and Firefox.
