Google's Blink WebKit-Fork Is Now One Year Old
The Blink web-browser rendering engine that was forked from WebKit is now one year old.
It was one year ago today that Google forked WebKit to form Blink. Since then Blink continues to be used predominantly by their Chrome and open-source Chromium browsers, but Opera is using Blink as are some other prominent open-source projects.
Posted to the Chromium Blog was a look back at Blink over the past year. There's significant contributions being made to Blink by non-Google employees, many new web innovations are landing in Blink, etc.
Going forward, work is still ongoing to further speed-up rendering, minimize binary size, reducing input latency, lowering memory use, work on better scheduling, and improvements to GPU rasterization.
