FreeBSD 10.0 RC1 Arrives With Driver Updates

Just shy of a week since the release of FreeBSD 10.0 Beta 4, the first release candidate for this delayed operating system update is now available.

FreeBSD 10.0 is a big update but has been running a few weeks behind schedule to the point it won't ship this year. However, with today's RC1 release it looks like an official release might come in early to mid January based upon their traditional timing between test builds. Making up for the late release though are many great FreeBSD 10.0 features.

With today's FreeBSD 10.0 Release Candidate 1 there are now Microsoft Hyper-V kernel modules by default on i386 architectures for the virtualization platform, regression fixes, better robustness out of the Xen balloon driver, fixed powerd/states on AMD processors, new network controller support, and many other fixes/updates throughout the key FreeBSD drivers and packages.
