What Laptops Would You Like To See Tested On Linux?

If you have been curious how a particular laptop is performing on Linux, now is your chance to voice your request as I will be buying two laptops this week for Phoronix testing and benchmarking under Linux.

This week I will be buying two laptops for testing under Linux at Phoronix for upcoming articles and an assortment of benchmarks. My only requirements are:

- One of the laptops be with a higher-end Intel Haswell processor. From all my Haswell tests on numerous desktops/ultrabooks/laptops so far, I have been incredibly happy with Intel Haswell on Linux as covered in my many articles. The processor performance and power efficiency is fantastic and their graphics performance is also great for being integrated while the open-source Intel Linux GPU driver continues to improve. A good screen and portability on the Haswell ultrabook is a must.

- For the other laptop ideally I would like to get something with an AMD inside whether it be an (Kabini) APU or a system with Mobility Radeon graphics. It can be a lower-end system that's not as beefy as the Haswell laptop since I will do my development tasks from that system.

- The laptops must be from a tier-one manufacturer and I'm not really interested in anything from Clevo or the smaller vendors.

- Ideally a good deal on both of the systems... With many American shopping deals for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and all around Christmas specials, hopefully the hardware will be nicely priced.

Besides being used for more Linux laptop reviews and various benchmark articles looking at different matters, I will be using them for Phoronix Test Suite 5.0-Plavsk development tasks. I will be spending about a month in Russia between December and January to focus on the major features and changes coming to Phoronix Test Suite 5.0.

What laptop to test/benchmark next under Linux?

I will bring the to-be-purchased laptops along with several other mobile systems I currently use (2012 MacBook Pro, 2013 MacBook Air, etc) and then just remotely running desktop Linux benchmarks via the Phoronix Test Suite, Phoromatic, and OpenBenchmarking.org for hardware back in my office. Phoronix Test Suite 5.0 is going to have some really great features and there will be more to talk about following this trip.
