GStreamer 1.2 Feature Release Is Now Available

GStreamer 1.2.0 is now available as the first major update to this widely-used open-source multimedia framework since the GStreamer 1.0 milestone some months ago.

GStreamer 1.2 brings new API additions for various features, there's numerous new plugins, video improvements, audio improvements, V4L2 support improvements, and a wide variety of other enhancements.

Among the new GStreamer plugins are for Microsoft Smooth Streaming, DASH Adaptive Streaming, JPEG2000, VP9 encoding/decoding, and WebP image decoding.
