Fedora 19 Won't Be Released Until This Summer
At today's Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee, more of the proposed Fedora 19 features were talked about and the Fedora 19 release schedule was ratified. Fedora 19 will not be officially released now until the end of June.
Originally the release schedule for Fedora 19 was to have it out by the end of May following the very belated release of Fedora 18, but the official schedule has now pushed it back by one month.
The schedule approved by the FESCo group now puts the general availability release on 25 June. The beta release of Fedora 19 is now planned for 21 May and the Alpha release is planned for 16 April.
Other items talked about at today's Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee meeting include approving first-class cloud images, the Dracut HostOnly feature, Apache OpenOffice will find its way to Fedora 19 as long as packaging conflicts with LibreOffice are addressed, GNOME 3.8 will be the desktop environment, and Cinnamon will not become the default desktop as was earlier proposed. (At last week's FESCo meeting they decided to indeed replace MySQL with MariaDB among other F19 feature discussions.)
The meeting minutes that also go over some of the other Fedora 19 feature talk can be found on the Fedora devel mailing list.
