LINUX KERNEL
The perf performance counters sub-system and utility are seeing some mighty improvements with the Linux 3.7 kernel.

Ingo Molnar writes in the merge, "Lots of changes in this cycle as well, with hundreds of commits from over 30 contributors. Most of the activity was on the tooling side."

Among the Linux 3.7 perf changes is a new perf kvm analysis tool, a perf trace system-wide tracing tool, UProbes fixes, patches for making perf build on Android, extending the ftrace function utility to be dynamic, improved perf sched performance, event group parsing support, and much more.

On the infrastructure side of the Linux perf sub-system, there's also many improvements as outlined in the merge message.
