A new milestone has been reached with the forthcoming Steel Storm 2 title from Kot-In-Action.

Uploaded to YouTube yesterday was a new Steel Storm 2 video by the game's developers. The video was uploaded with a description of "Another milestone has been reached. Large outdoor terrain, harsh weather, moving clouds drop shadows onto the terrain.. We can do it!"

The best part, at least to us, is "Hopefully we can put a real-time benchmark together using this content." It would be nice to see as this outdoor terrain / blizzard video looks fun although not visually the most amazing thing out there, still rather nice for a Linux title. Steel Storm 2 was originally being powered by the DarkPlaces engine but has now moved to id Tech 4.

Steel Storm 2 was confirmed for Linux last year although the indie game's development isn't going too fast. The company's other title, Tomes of Mephistopheles, isn't selling too well.

Steel Storm 2 is expected to be a first person shooter inspired by Doom and Quake.
