NVIDIA Releases New Driver For X.Org Server 1.12
Last week NVIDIA released a new beta Linux driver that is supportive of X.Org Server 1.12.
At the end of January was when NVIDIA put out a new driver, which was released as 295.17 beta. The only official changes for this driver is a GeForce 7 bug-fix where the internal LVDS panel didn't work for some laptops and then adding support for the new video driver ABI as used by X.Org Server 1.12 RC1.
Linux x86/x86_64 download links for the new NVIDIA binary blob can be found in this NvNews.net forum thread.
Meanwhile AMD hasn't yet released a Catalyst graphics driver that's supportive of this new X.Org Server version. X.Org Server 1.12 final is expected to be out in early March. On the graphics side this next release doesn't have anything too invasive, so hopefully AMD will be quick to support it. The only really exciting change in this six-month-Xorg-update is the X Input 2.2 / Multi-Touch integration.
