With AMD's Socket AM2 now out in the wild, the demand for DDR2 components will only flourish as DDR1 finally begins to fall. AMD has certainly embraced DDR2 at the correct time, with there being a good selection of Double Date Rate 2 components from an array of manufacturers, and the frequencies as well as latencies have definitely improved since Intel's adoption back in 2004. In fact, just last week at Computex Taipei 2006, Corsair Memory was showing off PC2-9600 memory, or DDR2-1250MHz. While we were preparing for AMD's AM2 launch with our same-day coverage, this is our first time using AMD's new platform in any DDR2 memory review. To inaugurate this occasion, we have two sticks of Super Talent's 1GB DDR2-800MHz memory, which comes timed at 4-4-3-8. The part number for this Super Talent memory is T800UX2GC4.

Not only is this our first DDR2 memory review while on AMD's new socket, but this is our first time deciding to look at Super Talent Technology Corporation. For a quick synopsis of Super Talent, they are located out of San Jose California and have over twenty years experience in the PC memory industry. Super Talent's focus at this time is on providing DDR1/DDR2 modules as well as engineering flash memory based storage devices. Like the many memory manufacturers that package their DIMMs inside of a small plastic container, Super Talent does the same. On the front of the container is a small label while the rest of the container remains bare. No warranty pamphlets or any other items were included with the product.
