Initial Hands-On With The Passively-Cooled Airtop PC Boasting A Core i7 & GTX 950

Since the Airtop PC was announced back in January there has been a lot of interest in this passively-cooled, high-performance line of PCs by the folks at CompuLab. The Airtop isn't some low-end, passively cooled PC but rather can be equipped with a Core i7 or Xeon CPU and a discrete graphics card to deliver very capable performance while having a completely silent PC. Some have been skeptical about the cooling and performance claims of the Airtop PC, but our review sample arrived this morning and have begun testing out this very interesting PC.

As described by CompuLab, "Airtop is a small and silent desktop with very high performance. The key word is silent. Not 'with a specially designed fan that is very quiet'. Airtop has no fans at all, yet it can dissipate 200W – enough to cool a Xeon CPU and a professional (or gaming) graphics card. Airtop cools itself by generating airflow using no moving parts, just the waste heat from the CPU and the GPU."

I've only had access to the Airtop for a few hours now, but already the claims by CompuLab have been accurate and this is looking like quite a capable, Linux-friendly computer.

The review sample we were sent over has a Core i7 5775C Broadwell CPU, GeForce GTX 950 graphics card, 256GB ADATA SSD, and a custom motherboard.
