While we know Intel Broadwell performance is much faster on Ubuntu 15.04 than Ubuntu 14.10, with this week's release of Ubuntu Vivd Vervet, here's some fresh results looking to see how the Intel Haswell graphics performance has evolved over the past six months. For the many Intel Haswell owners out there, you'll be pleased that the performance has overall improved.

Yesterday I shared some early Steam on Linux numbers for Intel graphics on Ubuntu 15.04 while today's article is a much more diverse collection of OpenGL tests run via the open-source Phoronix Test Suite software.

Ubuntu 14.10 vs. 15.04 Intel Graphics

Clean installs of Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04 x86_64 were done for this comparison and using the stock packages of both these Linux operating system releases. The system used for testing had an Intel Core i7 4790K Haswell processor with HD Graphics 4600. It's quite a straightforward comparison so let's jump straight to the numbers. Similar open-source AMD Radeon results will be out tomorrow.
