Logisys 4801: Spending Just $50 On A 4U Server Chassis

Yesterday I wrote a bit about the 2U server chassis I've been using that cost just $69 USD a piece. Meanwhile for fitting standard ATX motherboards and larger full-size graphics cards, there's a 4U chassis I've bought several of thus far that retails for just over $50.

The most popular 4U server chassis in use for the new open-source Linux benchmarking test farm that's still being constructed is the Logisys 4801. I've bought several of the Logisys 4801 from Amazon.com for just $53 USD and also several of the Logisys CS4801H server cases, which internally is almost identical, and just the version of this Logisys 4U server chassis sold by NewEgg for a few more dollars.

The Logisys 4801/CS4801H 4U server enclosure sells for even less than the Rosewill 2U server chassis I wrote about yesterday, but so far is a suitable fit for this open-source benchmarking test farm with a focus on keeping low costs.

The Logisys 4801 supports three external 5.25-inch drive bays, seven internal 3.5-inch drive bays, seven expansion slots, and can handle ATX motherboards up to 12 x 9.6 inches.

For cooling there's one 120mm intake fan and room for two 80mm exhaust fans.
