While Habey may not be a household name to most Linux desktop users, they are known in the embedded world and do produce Linux-friendly systems and motherboards. Habey recently engaged with Phoronix and today we are checking out our first Habey motherboard: the MITX-6771 that's a mini-ITX motherboard with Intel Bay Trail quad-core SoC.

Habey is a division of NORCO Intelligent Technology and they manufacture a range of industrial motherboards, industrial PCs, and other components for point-of-sale systems, banking, military, digital signage, and other industries. Habey was originally established in China back in the 90's. Given the company's focus on embedded computing and industrial applications, Linux support and interest comes with the territory.

Habey USA sent over the MITX-6771 motherboard for testing to Phoronix. Given that it's my first time having hands on time with a Habey motherboard, I've been pushing it hard for a number of weeks now on Ubuntu, Fedora 21, and CentOS 7. It's also since been added to the new Linux test farm for daily benchmarking and stressing.

The mini-ITX sized MITX-6771 is built around Intel's Celeron J1900 SoC that's a quad-core processor running at 2.42GHz and boasts Intel HD Graphics. This Celeron J1900 is quite powerful for being a Bay Trail part and spec'ed out better than the NUC and some other Bay Trail devices previously tested at Phoronix. The MITX-6771 has two DDR3L SO-DIMM connectors supporting up to 8GB of system memory, Gigabit Ethernet via a Realtek RTL8111F controller, one Serial ATA 2.0 connector, one mSATA connector, one mini-PCI-E connector, and one PCI Express x1 slot.

Given the industrial focus of Habey, the motherboard box was a plain cardboard box. Included with the motherboard was the I/O panel cover, one SATA data cable, one SATA power cable for drawing power from the motherboard, and a driver/utility CD. No printed user's manual was included with the motherboard but it's available for download from Habey USA if needing the pin diagrams for the front panel header or other connectors on the motherboard, etc.
