Radeon R300g Morphological Anti-Aliasing Performance

Last week benchmarks were delivered of the AMD Radeon R300g with MSAA, after the much-used feature was finally implemented in a proper and working state for this open-source graphics driver. Coming out today are new Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) benchmarks from this Gallium3D driver to compare to the Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing results.

Morphological Anti-Aliasing is an alternative to using MSAA or the more advanced anti-aliasing techniques and MLAA came to Mesa/Gallium3D because of the 2011 Google Summer of Code. Back in early 2012 I did benchmarks of Morphological Anti-Aliasing with Mesa 8.0. That Phoronix article has more details on Morphological Anti-Aliasing for those interested.

Gallium R300g Radeon MLAA Morphological Anti-Aliasing

In this article are the 2x and 4x MSAA results from last week of the Radeon X1800XT (R520) graphics card with the 2x MLAA, 4x MLAA, and 8x MLAA filters also tested (using the depth version of MLAA as controlled through the "pp_jimenezmlaa" environment variable). This testing is quite simple so here are the results on the following pages.
