Goldmund's Media Room: A Dream For Audiophiles

Last week I had received a unique CES invitation from Rogers & Cowan, a PR firm representing an array of entertainment and technology companies, about one of their clients that advertises itself as the makers of the "world's most extravagant and technologically advanced systems for audio-video purists." For the Consumer Electronic Show, participating companies will either have a booth or suite somewhere in Las Vegas, but that wasn't the case for Goldmund, this Rogers & Cowan client that specializes in high-end audio/video systems. Their systems are so advanced that they simply cannot be built in a day or even a week, but for each of their media rooms they spend extensive time planning and constructing the rooms that are slated to be perfect, even an imperfect world. With that said, it was easier and more cost effective for Goldmund to just have four other writers and I check out their luxurious home theater systems in a demonstration home near Los Angeles.

While home theater systems are far from our main focus at Phoronix, after looking at information on this Swiss-based company, I decided this media room sounded quite interesting and worth accepting this invitation. On Wednesday during the Consumer Electronic Show, the other journalists and I headed out from Las Vegas to their media room near Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley. Joining us prior to boarding the Gulfstream G-1159A was Goldmund's President & CEO, Michel Reverchon. Michel had purchased this company in Geneva over 17 years ago. When not leading the company, he spends his spare time piloting planes, helicopters, and Formula One cars. Rather than having a storefront or other type of building for demonstrating their ultra high-end products, they had equipped a vacant home in a secluded community for these purposes.

Once arriving to the Goldmund location, we had met with other Goldmund employees such as the Goldmund Executive Operations Manager, Brett Lee, and the Goldmund Executive Technical Manager, Ty Wiedrich. Goldmund also has one of these media rooms built for demonstration purposes in New York.
