VDrift

Posted by Michael Larabel on Day 39 (July 09, 2006)

Yesterday marked the release of the first VDrift build since February of this year. For those not familiar with VDrift, it's an open-source multi-platform drift racing game that is powered by the Vamos engine. Compiling VDrift 2006-07-08 from source, I tried out this latest open-source racing game with the ATI 8.26.18 drivers on the Radeon X1800XT. For the most part, the game had worked fine with ATI Linux, however, there was a plight when it came to some details and textures. A majority of the game had worked fine, but there were some tracks where there would be large amounts of white surfaces, and in some instances the guard-rails would fail to display. I'm still in the process of digging up some information on these issues and hope to report back shortly. More on VDrift 2006-07-08 is here.
