Performance

Posted by Michael Larabel on Day 05 (June 05, 2006)

As mentioned in an earlier post, the purpose of this blog isn't designed to compare the NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX against the ATI Radeon X1800XT. However, to get an idea for the frame-rate performance between the NVIDIA and ATI Linux drivers, below are simply two ATI/NVIDIA benchmarks. A test was done with Enemy Territory and Doom 3, and the standard Phoronix benchmarking practices were applied to ensure testing accuracy. The 7800GTX tests were performed prior to its removal. It is important to reiterate that these are simply two tests -- of the many possible test selections. The results below are the reported average FPS. As can be seen, Enemy Territory performs about the same on both cards, while the red does take a serious beating with Doom 3 when it comes to the frame-rate performance.
