There's a lot of interesting talks happening at SIGGRAPH, as usual. A listing of scheduled talks and other events can be found at SIGGRAPH.org for this leading graphics event.
Of course, for Phoronix readers the most interest will likely be with the numerous Khronos Group talks at SIGGRAPH. In particular, whether the Vulkan API will be formally unveiled and whether there's updates in store for OpenGL or their other cross-platform, industry-standard APIs. SIGGRAPH has traditionally served as a point for Khronos to launch new revisions of their specifications, etc. It's been widely anticipated for a while now that SIGGRAPH 2015 could be used as the grounds for SPIR-V 1.0 and Vulkan 1.0 -- The Khronos Group has publicly just said that Vulkan would get firmed up by year's end.
I'll be under embargo soon so expect this as my last post about these industry standards for now, but hopefully will be exciting news to share next week. Stay tuned for any interesting SIGGRAPH announcements next week.
