Unity 5.0 Brings PhysX 3.3, WebGL Preview, Animation System Work

Version 5.0 of the Unity Game Engine was released this morning at the Game Developers' Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.

Unity 5.0 brings the physically-based standard shader for more consistent materials look, real-time global illumination, improved audio support, HDR Reflection Probes, PhysX 3.3 3D physics support, major updates to the animation system, and WebGL preview support.

Unity 5.0's AI also has improved performance with lower memory consumption, multiple display render support on Android, AAR support on Android, 64-bit Unity Editor, a new deferred shading rendering path, Gamepad hot-plugging on Linux/SteamOS, Gamepad configuration support via Steam Big Picture Mode, 2D physics improvements, and a wealth of other updates.
