For those craving some fresh Mesa Git benchmarks, here are a few OpenGL tests I carried out with some AMD Radeon GPUs when comparing the out-of-the-box Ubuntu 16.04 LTS performance to what's offered currently by Linux 4.8 and Mesa 12.1-dev Git.

Tests were done with a Radeon R9 270X, R7 370, R9 Fury, and RX 480 as just some quick, one-page-article testing. The RX 480, of course, could only be tested on this Git stack and not the out-of-the-box Ubuntu 16.04 (Linux 4.4 + Mesa 11.2) stack since it lacked the RX 400 Polaris series support.

The Mesa 12.1-dev Git was from Padoka PPA and the Linux 4.8 code was from Git as of last week.

In Metro Last Light Redux it's a big performance difference...

Though it's not a big deal for all tests... At least with Mesa Git there is currently OpenGL 4.3 support as opposed to OpenGL 4.1 on older versions of Mesa/LLVM.
