There's Now More Than 1,100 Games On Steam For Linux
It was just last month I wrote about there being more than 1,000 games on Steam for Linux/SteamOS. Recently, Steam crossed the 1,100 games milestone; over one hundred additions in just over one month!
As of writing there's 1,113 games listed as being available natively for "SteamOS + Linux." If counting downloadable content extras, trailers, demos, and other software offered by Steam, the total count is at 2,045 pieces for Linux.
Meanwhile, Mac OS X currently has 1,760 games available for the Apple platform. Windows games on Steam currently amount to 5,151.
In other words, just over 20% of the Steam game titles are available natively for Linux. This isn't bad at all considering the current Linux gaming market-share is just about 1%. Though many of these Steam Linux game ports are indie titles and other non-AAA titles, aside from Valve's games being all ported over, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Metro LL/2033 Redux, BioShock Infinite, and the other limited high-profile Linux game releases from major studios.
What game(s) are you hoping to see on Linux next? How many Steam Linux games do you own? Realistically, how high do you think the reported Linux gaming marketshare will rise once SteamOS is stable and Steam Machines hit the retail channels?
