Minor Updates To The Phoronix Forums, Registration
Just as a quick notice if you've had problems registering the past few days in the forums, etc.
A few people have pointed out over the past week or so they've had troubles registering in the Phoronix Forums. I've now tracked down that issue that caused the registration problems and should be fixed. So if you're new to the forums, welcome, and you should be able to cleanly sign-up now.
Also, a few people have reported problems visiting Phoronix.com since our recent server change. If you have any connection issues, please email me your traceroute as well as your IP address and can look into it.
Lastly, for those in the forums, many have been commenting about the recent lack of the "edit" button. As strictly an interim measure, only Phoronix Premium members have the edit rights to their posts in the forums. Editing for all accounts was disabled due to the massive amount of spam bots exploiting vBulletin's lack of spam checking when editing posts. A majority of our forum spam has come from these bots making clean posts only to then edit the content and insert various links and spam. By disabling the editing, the problem has gone away. I'll work to restore editing for non-premium members when I find a better spam plugin or other solution to avoid this problem.
