PHORONIX
There is less than one month to go when Phoronix will turn 12 years old as the leading destination for Linux hardware and open-source benchmarking content.

Similar to past years, I'm already working on a variety of special articles for when Phoronix.com turns twelve on 5 June. Last year even included Comparing Today's Modern CPUs To Intel's Socket 478 Celeron & Pentium 4 while among the many articles coming out in the month ahead include:

- A big Amazon EC2 cloud performance round-up.

- Benchmarks of my Haswell and Broadwell laptops looking at the power consumption / performance-per-Watt of recent Fedora releases (along with using Fedora Rawhide Nodebug kernel for the latest Linux 4.6 material).

- A big graphics card comparison looking at the OpenGL/OpenCL performance on Ubuntu 16.04 going back a few generations on each side (both AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce) while also looking at the system power consumption and performance-per-Watt.... Should be a fun comparison.

- The NVIDIA results including the power metrics might be done as soon as tomorrow for up through the GTX 900 Maxwell hardware and possibly as far back as the 9800 GTX. Of course, it's in preparation in part for the GeForce GTX 1000 "Pascal" testing. I haven't heard from NVIDIA yet on review samples of the Pascal cards launching in the weeks ahead. If they don't send out samples though, I definitely will end up buying a GeForce GTX 1080 on launch-day in order to provide Linux testing of the card. I'll also buy a GeForce GTX 1070 too if I can afford it (a.k.a. thanks new premium members or tippers and those not blocking ads on the site) for being able to provide Linux benchmarks, but hopefully NVIDIA will once again come through.

- New AMD hardware that will also be benchmarked on Phoronix.

- Some fresh ARM board comparisons with the latest distributions.

- More Intel Skylake Xeon Linux benchmarks.

- Maybe going back and doing some historical Linux kernel benchmark comparisons over the years or the like. Unfortunately, all my hardware from 12 years ago is now retired.
