That Piece Of Crap Hewlett-Packard Ad

Posted by Michael Larabel on September 14, 2011

If you've been annoyed over the past ~18 hours by a Hewlett-Packard ad appearing on Phoronix that's hijacking the pages for at least the US traffic, I've been beyond annoyed by this bloody ad as well. It should be hopefully fixed soon.

I've been angered since this ad was brought to my attention at XDC2011 with the HP ad taking over the entire screen, on every page impression, and can't be closed. It's a fucking mess.

IDG TechNetwork operations, as usual, is taking a long time to track down the ad and get it removed. There's been several emails and phone calls yesterday and today and this ad is still there and making me and Phoronix readers incredibly mad. It's just the latest problem and renders my site unusable.

Sorry for any inconvenience and the issue will hopefully be fixed soon. Please don't use Ad Block or other scum, but there is Phoronix Premium for those wishing to view entire articles on a single page without any ads.

UPDATE: The ad should now be gone!
