Fedora 16 Will Be Verne, Not A Beefy Miracle

Posted by Michael Larabel on April 12, 2011

The Fedora 16 name voting has ended. One of the leading proposals for the Fedora 16 codename was to call it a Beefy Miracle, but that will not happen. The Fedora 15 successor will be called Verne.

Verne had 2204 votes where as Beefy Miracle was in second with 1662. Coming up in third was Omoto. Other contenders included Nepia, Bonnet, Barona, Llullaillaco, Legation, and Mt. Orne.

There was quite a campaign by Beefy Miracle proponents to the point that there was even a BeefyMiracle.org web-site all campaigning for this Fedora name.

The results were published this morning on the Fedora mailing list.

Fedora 16 will be released later in the year while Fedora 15 is set to arrive in May.
