GNOME 3.0 Beta 1 Is Now Available

Posted by Michael Larabel on February 23, 2011

As expected, when talking about the latest GNOME Shell and Mutter changes this morning. GNOME 3.0 Beta 1 has been released today. This is the first of two betas for this popular desktop environment before the final release is expected in a little more than one month.

It's mostly bug-fixes at this stage in the release cycle, but there is the churn in the GNOME Shell talked about this morning. There are also a number of NetworkManager changes as that networking wired/wireless management component is nearing its 0.9 release. The release announcement for GNOME 3.0 Beta 1 is available from the gnome-announce-list.

The GNOME 3.0 release schedule is available at Live.GNOME.org; the second beta is coming on 9 March, the release candidate on 23rd of March, and GNOME 3.0.0 final on the 6th of April.
