GCC 4.5.2 Is Near With A Release Candidate

Posted by Michael Larabel on December 08, 2010

While GCC 4.6 is nearing release, Ubuntu 11.04, Fedora 15, and other H1'2011 Linux distributions will continue shipping with GCC 4.5, which was released in April and so far has been succeeded by just one point release. A second point release, GCC 4.5.2, is however being prepared for release shortly.

Novell's Richard Guenther has announced the immediate availability of the release candidate for GCC 4.5.2. This release just carries bug/regression fixes and other work, but no new features.

The release announcement for the GCC 4.5.2 release candidate can be found on the GNU mailing list. The GCC 4.5.2 branch is currently frozen and Richard is hoping to release GCC 4.5.2 final in approximately one week.
