MythTV 0.23 Hits Release Candidate Stage

Posted by Michael Larabel on March 24, 2010

While MythTV faces greater competition these days in the free software HTPC / PVR arena with competition from the likes of XBMC, Boxee, Enna, and others, the development of MythTV is continuing to move forward in a steadfast manner.

MythTV 0.22 was released back in November following a rather long development cycle, but now the developers have decided to go with a shorter cycle and as such the first release candidate for MythTV 0.23 has arrived.

As shared in the Wiki release notes, MythTV 0.23 so far encompasses a pull of new FFmpeg code, AVChapter support during video playback for Matroska and OGG, a MythNetvision plug-in, a new theme, a new event system, new python bindings, and a few changes to the different plug-ins.

MythTV 0.23 Release Candidate 1 can be downloaded at MythTV.org.
