. Ubuntu 9.10 has been codenamed the Karmic Koala
and this release from Canonical will integrate Plymouth
to provide a rich kernel mode-setting
experience, feature performance improvements, and contain enhancements for Ubuntu cloud computing. In time for Ubuntu 9.10 we may even see some Gallium3D drivers
and the latest innovations in the Linux stack as of the Linux 2.6.31 kernel or thereabouts.
While it's a given that Ubuntu 9.10 will be released in October of 2009, the release schedule for the Karmic Koala has just been published by Canonical. The first alpha release of Ubuntu 9.10 is planned for May 14 with a total of six alpha releases before a beta release on the first of October. The final release of Ubuntu 9.10 is then planned for October 29, 2009.
