When Will UT3 For Linux Be Released?

Posted by Michael Larabel on October 18, 2008

Tomorrow will mark eleven months since Unreal Tournament 3 was released in the United States. Originally this Epic Games title was supposed to be available for Linux shortly after its release and then it became a matter of it will ship when it's ready. The UT3 Linux server binary was also promised in time for release but that didn't arrive for an additional month.

In July though it was reaffirmed that Unreal Tournament 3 for Linux is still in the works and then last month we finally saw the first screenshot of UT3 running on Linux, which was posted by Ryan Gordon, the one porting the Unreal 3 Engine to Linux. An Epic Games employee that's active on our forums had also confirmed the Linux client should include the game's editor application.

We have no information as to when the Unreal Tournament 3 Linux client will finally be released, but it looks like it may be around the corner. Do you think it will make it out by the game's one-year anniversary? Let us know your thoughts in the this thread.
