WINE 1.0 Is Released!

Posted by Michael Larabel on June 17, 2008

Following a (long) development period of 15 years, the WINE HQ is today proud to announce the release of WINE 1.0.0. This WINE 1.0.0 release doesn't incorporate all of the blocker bugs and other features that were once planned, but this will serve as their first stable release and the basis for future work. WINE 1.0.1 is next up on the road-map while WINE 1.2.0 will be a few months out. For more information on this Windows executable layer for Linux and alternative operating systems, check out our WINE news and articles.

Update: CodeWeavers has also announced today that CrossOver Office 7.0 for Linux and Mac OS X platforms have been released. This WINE-based software ships with support for Microsoft Office 2007 as well as Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2 and other common Windows office applications. More information is available in the CodeWeavers press release.
