What's Coming For GNOME 2.20/2.22?

Posted by Michael Larabel on May 26, 2007

We're still early in the GNOME 2.20 season with GNOME 2.19.2 just coming out earlier in the month, but the GNOME Live RoadMap for GNOME 2.20 and GNOME 2.22 has been updated. Some of the planned improvements for GNOME 2.20 will be version 3.0 of the Ekiga VoIP client, Evince improvements for document viewing, plug-in system for the GNOME image viewer (Eye of GNOME), a new highlighting engine for the text editor (Gedit), and full compliance with the FreeDesktop.org power management specification for GNOME Power Manager. Ekiga 3.0 will feature a new user interface, X-Video support, and support for audio and video codecs. On the table for GNOME 2.22 is New Stuff Manager integration, stabilization of Ekiga 3.0, complete support for X.509 certificates in GNOME Keyring, new library for GNOME Applets, a complete high contrast SVG theme for GNOME, and a lot more is planned.
