GNOME Mobile and Embedded Initiative

Posted by Michael Larabel on April 20, 2007

Yesterday Linux.com reported on the launching of the GNOME Mobile and Embedded Initiative. This initiative to get GNOME on mobile and embedded devices is sponsored by such companies as Red Hat and Canonical along with backing by the Linux Foundation. The GMAE (GNOME Mobile and Embedded) platform is a subset of the technologies found on a traditional GNOME desktop. This GMAE platform is already present in the Nokia N770 and N800 as well as the OLPC laptop, but in the coming months they will be adding Java ME, GeoClue, and making other improvements.
