Red Hat has released their third update to their "Software Collections" that provide updated development tools/packages to RHEL6/RHEL7 users as an alternative to their default packages.

Red Hat Software Collections make it easier for developers and administrators to access the very latest stable software packages for popular programs compared to the proven and well-tested programs that ship in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 by default.

Among the highlights for Red Hat Software Collections 1.2 is the updates for GCC 4.9, the Eclipse IDE has been added to the Red Hat Developer Toolset 3, DevAssistant 0.9.1, Maven 3.0, Git 1.9.4, Nginx 1.6, and Dockerfiles.

Those wishing to learn more about the Red Hat Software Collections 1.2 release can find all of the necessary details via this morning's RH press release.
