The first beta of KDE with new releases for the applications and development platform is now available for the 4.14 release cycle.

KDE 4.14 is now under a dependency and feature freeze as the last planned major update to the KDE4 platform. Succeeding KDE 4.14 by the end of the year should be a mixed KDE release that includes applications supporting KDE Frameworks 5 while KDE 4.14 is the last "hoorah" for KDE4.

Those wishing to find out more about KDE 4.14 Beta 1 can find the release announcement at KDE.org. The official release of KDE 4.14 is tentatively scheduled to arrive on 20 August.
