LinuxMint has now officially announced the release of the Cinnamon desktop GNOME Shell 3.x fork.
Yesterday on Phoronix we covered Cinnamon 2.0 being tagged
within Git and the new features it provides. Now we have some additional details now that the LinuxMint team has announced the official release and general availability of the desktop environment forked from GNOME.
Among the features of Cinnamon 2.0 include edge-snapping, sound effects, better user management, Nemo file manager improvements, window manager enhancements, and much more. There's also better integration, new developer features, and a lot of other random changes and bug-fixes.
