The second beta of the KDE 4.11 Software Compilation has been released.

For those interested in testing out KDE 4.11, the feature-rich Linux desktop environment, the second beta is out ahead of the final release in mid-August.

KDE 4.11 makes greater use of Qt Quick within Plasma, provides faster Nepomuk searching, and the KWin window manager has initial Wayland support underway. More features coming to this bi-annual KDE release are covered in this article and more about KWin. This also happens to be the last feature release for KDE4 Workspaces. Even as not a daily user of KDE, this 4.11 release is looking quite exciting.

More details on KDE 4.11 Beta 2 can be found via the KDE.org announcement.

On a semi-related note, this morning Digia also released Qt Creator 2.8 RC.
