After a half-decade in development, VDR 2.0 has been released of this open-source video recording and playback software.

Version 2.0 of the Linux Video Disk Recorder provides HDTV support, the Transport Stream recording format, DVB subtitles, ATSC support, and improved Electronic Program Guides handling.

The user-interface to VDR has also been overhauled and supports new display formats and there's been new work to the VDR skins. Other new features include support for Satellite Channel Routing, plugin improvements, and remote control improvements.

More information on this major release of VDR 2.0 can be found from TVDR.de and in particular the lengthy change-log.
