To succeed the feature-rich Git 1.8 release, Git 1.8.1 was released on New Year's Eve with a few new features.

As wrote about in early December, Git 1.8.1 packs some new features plus bug-fixes. Among the new features of Git 1.8.1 include command-line completion scripts for more sub-commands, improved HTML documentation, a new configuration variable, and various other Git sub-command improvements.

The Git 1.8.1 release announcement can be found on the Linux kernel mailing list.
