id's Former Linux Guy Joins Another Game Company

Posted by Michael Larabel on July 03, 2012

Timothee Besset (a.k.a. "TTimo") left id Software earlier this year. For years Timothee was id's main "Linux guy" responsible for the ports of Doom 3, Quake 4, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and other Linux and Mac OS X titles. It's now been shared that Timothee is joining another game company due to his Linux and OS X experience.

Unfortunately he's not a Valve Linux hire but rather he's joined Frozen Sand. Frozen Sand is the company behind Urban Terror, one of the many ioquake3 open-source shooter games available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

In January when he left id Software, Bessett said he was joining a small gaming start-up in Texas that wasn't FPS or eSports related. Now, however, he seems to be onto Frozen Sand.

TTimo has shared on Twitter, "I played [Urban Terror] for several years. It's one of those few games that just 'feel right' to me."
