Shooting Towards Xonotic 1.0
Back in February I mentioned that Xonotic 1.0 was on the Linux gaming horizon following a discussion about the planned milestone back at FOSDEM in Brussels. Xonotic 1.0 has yet to be released, but it's coming closer.
The Xonotic 1.0 plans and features were talked about in the earlier article, but for those wondering about the current state: check out dev.xonotic.org.
The Xonotic 1.0 development page reflects the current progress towards the important number. The page indicates that they are 78% of the way there with 89 closed items (a combination of features and bugs) while 50 items remain open. The page even estimates the total completion time of 237.3 hours while they have spent an estimated 151.3 hours so far for the time tracking (though this estimated time tracking sounds rather inaccurate...).
Among the many items left to be completed prior to Xonotic 1.0 is a rank column in the scoreboard, stereo 3D options in the settings, bot fixes, branding improvements, a simple campaign mode to showcase Xonotic maps and game-modes, HUD improvements, and much more.
